Opportunities and Enrichment

At Cheam Common Junior Academy we provide opportunities which support and enrich learning to ensure that every pupil is able to access our broad and balanced, exciting and engaging curriculum offer.


Clubs

A very wide range of clubs are on offer free of charge to the children.

We also work with outside organisations to provide additional opportunities for the children. Fees are directly paid to the club provider. 


Sports Opportunities And Events

Sports events are attended such as the  borough sports athletics event, netball matches and all children take part in a sports day which is attended by parents. 


LEO Active Citizens 

We plan opportunities for the children to be active citizens in the local community as well as the global community. We have supported a range of charities and initiatives for example St Raphael’s Rudolph Run, Macmillian, Epsom and Ewell food bank, Children in Need etc.


LEO Events 

Each year there is a full  range of opportunities exclusively offered to our LEO family of schools such as; Year 6 celebration, LEO concert, sports activities, virtual clubs, maths quiz.


Trips, Workshops And Visitors

A wide range of trips,workshops and visitors are planned throughout the year linked to the different learning units.

Global learning 

MEG and a trip to China is scheduled for the future. 

Pupils participate in a range of activities such as international awareness days to build their role as a global citizen. Examples include: World Ocean Day, Fairtrade fortnight.


Music Opportunities And Events

Our pupils experience a wide variety of musical activities including performing, composing, listening and appraising. This is achieved by playing and singing, performing with others, composing and arranging, listening to and appraising musical styles from all cultures, developing ideas of notation and using music as a means of self expression.

During KS2, pupils experience whole class ensemble tuition as specialist music teachers. Children across KS2 have the opportunity for individual instrumental tuition.
