School Discos

Friends of Cheam Common and the Senior Leadership Team had a meeting to discuss the future of holding school discos. Due to changes in After School Club numbers, we need to adjust how the discos are organised to ensure everything can run safely and smoothly.

Why we need to make changes

After School Club has grown considerably, with many more children now attending. To ensure both the disco and After School Club can continue successfully, we will be starting a new one-day format for the February disco.

26th February Disco

• 3:00–3:30pm – Relaxed Disco (£3 a ticket plus booking fee)

• 3:30–4:30pm – Years 1, 2 and 3 (£6 a ticket plus booking fee, only 190 tickets available)

• 4:45–5:45pm – Years 4, 5 and 6 (£6 a ticket plus booking fee, only 190 tickets available)

The Relaxed Disco is a shorter, calmer version of a traditional school disco, designed to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for children who may find busy or noisy events overwhelming; it will include softer music, no bright or flashing lights and a smaller group of attendees to maintain a relaxed atmosphere, will last for 30 minutes and is open to children from Year 1 to Year 6.

The main school discos will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Once the 190 tickets for each disco are sold, we will be unable to offer any additional tickets, so please buy early to avoid disappointment.

Important Information for Year 1 and Year 2 Families

When Year 1 and Year 2 children come over to the Junior building for their disco session, they will bring their bags and coats with them and will be dismissed from the Juniors Playground at the end of their session. You will be able to enter the playground through the main car park gate, and will be directed as to where classes are being dismissed from.

We hope this new structure will allow us to continue offering these fun and memorable events for the children, while also ensuring that the After School Club can operate safely and comfortably for those who depend on it.
