Year 4 Viking Day
Dear Year 4 Parents/Carers,
Greetings from the longship... well, Year 4! We're thrilled to announce that we'll be embarking on an exciting journey back in time for our very own Viking Day on Wednesday 4th June (first Wednesday after half term) as part of their exit point for their Saxon and Viking unit!
To make this immersive experience even more memorable, we would love for the children to come to school dressed up as Vikings! This is a fantastic opportunity for them to engage with the topic in a fun and creative way.
Think fearsome warriors with (safe!) swords and shields, resourceful shieldmaidens with braided hair, or even everyday Viking villagers. We encourage them to use their imagination and get creative with their costumes. Don't worry about elaborate outfits – simple is often best! Think along the lines of:
-
Clothing: Plain tunics or dresses (browns, greys, blues), perhaps with a simple belt.
-
Accessories: Cardboard swords or shields, toy axes, simple jewellery, headbands, or even a pretend helmet (please ensure these are safe and don't restrict movement).
-
Hair: Braids are a classic Viking look!
We have a day packed with exciting Viking-themed activities planned, and seeing the children dressed up will truly bring the era to life.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We eagerly await the arrival of our mini-Vikings!
Best regards,
The Year 4 Team
