Cheam Common Junior Academy opened as a sponsored academy in January 2016 and is part of the LEO Academy Trust. Being a member of the trust has delivered significant improvements right across the school community, which we look forward to building on year to year. We have not been inspected by Ofsted since opening as a sponsored academy.
Challenge Partners Quality Assurance Review
Cheam Common is one of five primary schools in Sutton to take part in the national Challenge Partners programme. The programme helps schools with their monitoring and evaluation procedures, gives senior leaders the opportunity to become national specialist leaders of education (SLEs) and provides outstanding continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for all staff.
We are a member of the Cheam Hub and the Belleville Teaching School. Challenge Partners enables our school to receive support from other schools locally, across London and nationally as well.
We are delighted to report that our most recent Quality Assurance Review found that:

Key stage results
The national curriculum is organised into blocks of years called ‘key stages’ (KS). At the end of a key stage, the teacher will formally assess each child’s performance. Find out more about the national curriculum key stages at GOV.UK.
As a junior academy Cheam Common has only one key stage - KS2, for children in Year 6. By the end of each summer term we will write a report on your child’s progress and talk it through with you.
We aim to give your child access to a broad, balanced and creative curriculum with high standards in English, Maths, Science and Computing.
To make sure standards are maintained across the curriculum we have implemented a School Improvement Plan. The plan has clear aims and objectives that drive improvements across the school, aiming to build on good practice, raise standards and develop areas of strength and expertise.
