Meet the Academy Committee Members

Pam Cooper: Chair of the Academy Committee

I first became a school governor in 2002, and in 2019 I joined the joint Local Governing Board of Cheam Common Infants and Cheam Common Junior schools.

I was appointed Chair of the Academy Committee for the Cheam Common schools in September 2022 and have responsibility for Achievement and Safeguarding.  In the past I have had responsibility for Inclusion and Curriculum.  Outside of school I work on a voluntary basis for a local Christian charity providing assemblies and RE support in primary schools in Sutton.

Marcus Le Brocq: Parent Academy Committee Member

Marcus is a School Parent Governor at CCI and CCJ with three children across both settings. He has a long professional background working with Children and Families. Initially with the looked after children's team at London Borough of Sutton then retraining to become a teacher and working for a charity delivering social emotional literacy (PSHE) programmes to primary schools all over London. He has a passion for ensuring fair access to education and inclusion for all learners.

Dalal Nageh-Kaler: Parent Academy Committee Member

Dalal delivers strategic communications plans for clients and leads as the Director of Training and Communications, a PR consultant, and trainer at the London School of Public relations (LSPR).  She has been instrumental in developing the global expansion and client base for the LSPR. Dalal is focused on helping clients find solutions to challenges faced in their communications careers. She offers a hands-on and practical approach to problem-solving, creative thinking, and tackling challenges. Her style of delivery is dynamic, engaging, and practical in content. 
 
Dalal's areas of expertise in developing professional development programmes and consultancy are related to risk, crisis management, external and internal communications, branding, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement. The programmes Dalal creates and in some cases delivers, are approved by the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation body.  She specialises in: Corporate Identity, Reputation Management, Crisis Management, Brand Management, Stakeholder Engagement, and Communications Strategies. Working closely with clients, she has helped shape communications plans, developed strategies for managing risk and protecting the reputation of global brands. 
 
She has extensive knowledge of training and designing professional courses, especially for continuous professional development, and has been awarded a Fellowship by the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning, in recognition of her training ability and industry experience.
 
Prior to her career in PR and crisis communications training and consultancy, Dalal worked in the oil and gas sector within business development. Then moving into education was tasked with setting up a private 6th form college. She has also taught pre-university foundation courses in marketing, business strategy, planning, and management. She has also taught GCSE business studies. 

Geeta Watson: Co-opted Academy Committee Member

My name is Geeta Watson and I am one of the co-opted governors. Before the formation of the new governing body, I was a parent governor for Cheam Common Infants - a role I was elected to in May 2018.
I am currently a stay at home mum of 3 (2 boys and a girl) I am also an avid Chelsea fan! Before having my third child I was a Primary School teacher at another local Sutton school.

It is a real privilege to be part of the governing body for Cheam Common. I am passionate about education and look forward to supporting the school in enabling every pupil to reach their full potential.
